The Artist Point Sweater is inspired by the dramatic mountains and rivers of the Pacific Northwest’s Cascade range. The sweater is named after Artist Point, a stunning viewpoint located in the north of Washington State.

The mountains and rivers are represented in the sweater by triangular shaped mountain peaks and long cabled lines of meandering rivers. The mountains are set on a reverse stocking stitch background for contrast. The river cables are worked on narrow bands of stocking stitch. The drop sleeves have a central cable panel of two long rivers on either side of one long line of mountain peaks. The front, back and sleeve sides are worked in contrasting stocking stitch.

The cables emerge from the sweater lower borders and cuffs and flow into the pattern panels on the sweater front, back and sleeves. The panels are placed symmetrically, with sections of mountains and rivers balanced across the sweater body. However, the curving river cables all flow in the same directions, adding a little bit of asymmetry to the design.

The Artist Point sweater is knitted flat in pieces from the bottom up.
